Molasses Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup of shortening
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  1. Boil water
  2. Mix the remaining ingredients together
  3. Add mixed ingredients to boiling water and mix to dissolve
  4. Cook as desired
