Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Grease the bottom of a 9x5x3 loaf pan.
- Mix sugar and butter in a large bowl.
- Stir in eggs until mixed well.
- Mix in bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just mixed.
- Mix in nuts.
- Pour into the pan.
- Bake on low rack for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick stuck into the center comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
- Cool an additional 2 hours on a wire rack before slicing.
